There's great excitement as we move towards the two most exciting open angling festivals to ever be staged on Lough Muckno.  They are the Muckno Mania on July 1-5 followed by the Muckno Autumn Festival, being held from September 30 until October 4. They both include team competitions.

“We are taking full advantage of having what must now be one of Europe’s finest match venues”, said Dick Caplice of Irish Angling Development Alliance. Anglers can arrive on this wonderful Monaghan fishery and drive safely to 220 permanent pegs and enjoy parking close to where they will be pegged, catching a lot of fish!

"And anglers from the UK and from across Europe can enjoy the lowest priced travel and accommodation deals to be found.   Including a weeks stay in a self-catering cottage and ferry travel for two in a car, priced at only £240 each.

"The event is being organised by the Lough Muckno Coarse Angling Club and for more information contact Richard Caplice 087 2405317 (0044 87 2405317). Aangling holiday specialists Active Irish Angling will provide faciltities for match tickets and travel.

"We have confirmed sponsorship of €3000 for the Muckno Mania Festival and a massive €10,000 for the Muckno Autumn tournament. The money will be spent on the two competitions without any further cost to the entry fee.  Basically, match anglers can make-up their own teams prior to the event and it will not affect the individual competition", Dick advised. "Both events will be designed for teams of five"

Team Payout for Muckno Autumn is: (1) €4000 (2) €2500 (3) €2000 (4) €1000 (5) €500
Please note: There will be no extra pools or super pools but £10 per angler (added to the entry fee) is being charged to every entrant - irrespective of origin - to cover insurance, disinfection fees, Coillte Permit and administration.
