Lough Muckno, Castleblayney
This is brilliant water is full of roach, hybrids, bream, perch and pike. Muckno covers 900 acres and is located on the edge of Castleblayney town where there is a choice of accommodation. There are a number of shoreline and ample room for pleasure fishing. White Island is the most popular and easily reached through the main gates in to Lough Muckno Park, where you take the immediate left turn and follow the track to the right. Black island is along the same lane but involves a 200 metre walk to the best swims. Concra Wood is now open and access is through the golf club. Be aware that there is a week-long angling festival during the last week of September that takes up most of the sections.
Species: Quality bream, tench, roach, hybrids, pike and perch
Best baits: Maggots, casters, corn and worms.

Directions: If you arrive in Castleblayney from the direction of Dublin, turn right at the T junction traffic lights. Drive 300 metres and then bear right into Muckno Park.
